Dual

*Dual creates music that transcends cultural and musical borders. The group aims to develop songs that are captivating, but also
transparent and sincere.*
Challenging the establishment and crossing borders, dual was originally established in Korea, a land rich in the eclectic and underground music scene. This group has come to represent the richness in diversity that music fans long for, bringing together an endless string of sub genres such as alternative pop, downtempo, and art rock. By combining diverse backgrounds and influences, dual brings a new strength and independence to the world of alt pop. Influences range an extensive gamut of underground artists, ranging from Spiritualized and Curve to Dead Can Dance and Massive Attack.
Crossing the ocean has brought dual to the place of creating their first official full-length release in 2004, and forming a band that manages to embrace the creative tensions of man vs. machine in a captivating manner. The newly formed band continues crossing lines with their upcoming sophomore release. A more thematic album, no subtitlesfocuses on cinematic and organic sounds, pushing dual into fresh sonic territory.
Dual draws upon the creative energies of founding members Ellie Chang (vocals) and Cris Fehr (composition/vocals). Upon their arrival in Canada, the duo transformed into a full group effort by the summer of 2004, consisting of Bryan Reichert (guitars/bgv), Janis Chow (keys/bgv), and Chad Williams (drums/bgv). The new lineup brings a powerful dynamic to the sound of dual, and has afforded them positive live reviews in a short span of time.
