Shameless has been fortunate enough to see a handful of artists find chart success on our hometown campus radio, CJSR FM 88.5. When we joined forces with Hector Fector, the plan was to take a great indie record and get the ball rolling across the country, starting with a CD release and campus radio promotion in the fall of 2008. Then a good problem happened: CJSR started playing the disc early, and played it alot.
How much?
HF’s “We Are Romantic” debuted at #1 on CJSR the week of June 10/08. A great feat, for sure. It stayed in the top 30 until July 16 when it dropped off, but only for one week, dynamically re-entering the charts July 23 at #6. It held strong, peaking again at #2 by the time we officially released “W.A.R.” on Sept.26. We thought the incredible run was finally over last week as HF finally disappeared from the top30, only to see them re-enter a third time this past week at #23.
If you’re counting (and we are), that is 21 out of the past 23 weeks in the top30, over half of that in the top20, and at least 25% in the top10. Thats incredible.
